Borders
Why do countries have borders? The definition of a border is a boundary for governments. Without borders, countries could not keep their enemies out. Borders keep order in a country too. For example, if their were no borders, who could tell which land was who's? This piece of land could belong to Canada or the U.S., but without a boundary, people couldn't tell which is which. If it was Canadian land, Canadas' laws would be enforced there. If it was U.S. territory, the U.S.s' laws would be in effect. If there were no borders, and no borderer patrol, people could bring in anything they wanted from country to country. They could bring in weapons, drugs, or any other illegal possesions. There would also be overpopulation in countries. Borders help regulate the flow of people into a country, so if the borders were to just disappear, people could decide that they don't like their own country, and flock to a better one.

OT HW: U.S. harms Mexico & vice versa
How does the U.S. harm Mexico? How does Mexico harm the U.S.? One way that Mexico harms the U.S. is with illegal immigrants. The government is trying to pass an amnesty bill, which would over 60 million illegal immigrants over the next 20 years. They'll need jobs, education, and other services that are already being used for the people who have lived here most, or all of their lives. Its estimated that the cost of the amnesty bill would be about $127 billion over the next 10 years. The bill would essentially erase our border. Not only that, but there have been cases where the U.S. accommodated to demands from Mexico about our law enforcement. Two border patrol agents were sentenced to about 11 years in prison for allegedly wounding a drug smuggler who was fleeing them. They were sentenced to prison, while the drug smuggler was given immunity. Something else happened like this in Texas, where a deputy was persecuted for wounding a smuggler who was trying to run him down with a vehicle.
There are ways that the U.S. harms Mexico too. Border patrol brutality, and white supremacists who do use too much force with the illegal aliens to the point of death. Gangs can kill the Mexicans as they sneak around the border or even leave them crippled and wounded. If the illegal immigrants do get into the U.S. and get jobs, it's likely they will be exploited and given very little pay for hard work.
Most of my info was found on these 2 sites about the amnesty bill.

OT HW: Immigration Policies
http://www.whitehouse.gov/news/releases/2004/01/20040107-1.html
This is a like to a site that shows the President's proposal on Immigration reform. It talks about protecting our borders, prevent exploitation of illegal foreigners-who would get temporary workers status-and returning them home after their period of work has concluded.
